Waste Management Continues 6 a.m. Collection Start

Virginia Beach Public Works Waste Management will continue beginning residential waste and recycling collections at 6 a.m. following positive results from the earlier collection schedule. 

The 6 a.m. start was initially implemented to help crews work during cooler morning temperatures. In addition to providing relief from the heat, the schedule has shown operational benefits. With milder temperatures expected, Waste Management will continue the 6 a.m. start to further evaluate its effectiveness under more typical weather conditions.  

Residents should continue to place trash, recycling and yard waste at the curb no later than 6 a.m. on their scheduled collection day. Setting materials out the evening before is encouraged whenever possible.
