Top Reasons to Attend the City of Virginia Beach’s Career Fair

On Tuesday, Oct. 17, the City of Virginia Beach is hosting a Career Fair from noon to 6 p.m., at the Virginia Beach Convention Center. Representatives from at least 18 City departments will be on site to answer questions about their open positions and employment process.

Here are the top reasons why local job seekers should head to the Convention Center for the job fair.

Have your questions answered in person.

So much of job-hunting happens online, but nothing personalizes a conversation quite like being face to face. The Career Fair is an opportunity to ask job-related questions in person with someone uniquely qualified to answer them. Whether that’s a clinician in Human Services or an officer with the Police Department, find out more about a job that interests you.

Some departments are offering on-the-spot job interviews.

The Career Fair happens once a year.

All year long, City recruiters host a virtual Q & A and attend various hiring events throughout the region (announced on LinkedIn). But the Career Fair is the only time so many City departments come together at the same hiring event. Fun fact: More than 50 candidates who attended last year’s career fair were hired into City jobs.

It's easy to pre-register and attend.

The Career Fair is open to the public and free of charge, including free parking. Registration is not required. However, job seekers planning to attend are encouraged to pre-register.
