We Want to Hear from You: Opioid Addiction Treatment Options

Several opportunities available to provide input on how to use opioid abatement funds.
Opioid Abatement Town Hall

The Virginia Beach Department of Human Services wants to hear from individuals who have experience with opioid addiction – those who may be struggling with addiction, in recovery, or their friends and family members – about services and programs available in our community.

The Commonwealth of Virginia was recently awarded funds from a settlement with opioid manufacturers, with those funds being shared with cities and towns to expand existing services or offer new ones based on community needs. In order to better understand what those needs are in Virginia Beach, the Department of Human Services is asking for community input on the topic.

A town hall is scheduled for 11 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 31, at the Virginia Beach Convention Center, 1000 19thStreet. Lunch and refreshments will be provided and registration is required for this event. A livestream will be available at speakupvb.com/opioid-response for anyone unable to attend.

The comments shared during this town hall and future events will be used by the department and neighboring cities to determine the needs of our residents and our region as a whole. Additional events are scheduled through the end of September across the city at the dates and locations listed below.

A survey will be available at a later date for those who are not able to attend any of the listening sessions. This is your opportunity to engage with the City of Virginia Beach Department of Human Services and provide input on this issue. To learn more, visit speakupvb.com/opioid-response.
