Virginia Beach Sports Center to Host Historic 2025 Championship Week of Three NCAA Division I Track & Field Conference Championships
Leading Venue Welcomes Top Athletes from Three Conferences Over Seven Days
The Virginia Beach Sports Center (VBSC), renowned as the “Home of Championships,” is set to host an unprecedented week of collegiate athletic excellence from February 23-March 1, 2025. Over the span of these seven days, three NCAA Division I Indoor Track & Field Conference Championships will take place under one roof. This milestone event will bring together elite student-athletes from the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA), Atlantic 10 Conference (A-10), and Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) for an inspiring display of talent and competition.
The action-packed week will include the 2025 MEAC Indoor Track & Field Championships (Feb. 23-24), the 2025 CAA Indoor Track & Field Championships (Feb. 26-27), and the 2025 A-10 Indoor Track & Field Championships (Feb. 28-March 1). The event positions VBSC as a premier destination for collegiate athletics and reinforces its reputation as one of the nation’s most versatile sports facilities.
“Our facility was designed to provide an unparalleled experience for athletes and fans, and the trust shown by these NCAA-affiliated conferences is a testament to that,” said Ryan Ladd, VBSC’s general manager. “Hosting three major championships in one week highlights our capability to deliver world-class events while showcasing Virginia Beach as a destination for sports tourism.”
What Leaders Are Saying
Colonial Athletic Association (CAA)
“For our dedicated athletes and coaches, the season culminates with the CAA Indoor Track & Field Championships. This is only the third year we’ve been able to offer indoor track & field championships. Before expansion initiatives, we only had outdoor, so it’s been a big deal for everyone involved,” said Joseph F. D’Antonio, Jr., Esq., CAA commissioner. “We, as a conference, are committed to providing a safe, exciting, competitive experience, so we couldn’t be happier to partner with VBSC once again for what will be a fantastic 2025 championship event.”
Atlantic 10 Conference (A-10)
“The A-10 Indoor Track & Field Championship is incredibly competitive on an annual basis. It’s such a large, diverse league with 15 institutions competing at high levels. These are student-athletes that put in a tremendous amount of work all year, but it always comes down to the last event,” said A-10 Associate Commissioner Tom Waterman. “As we looked for a spacious, spectator-friendly facility with high-performance tracks that could appropriately house our conference, VBSC was the perfect landing spot. This is the second consecutive year we’ve been with VBSC. We get to offer participants opportunities to showcase their strong performances and put up marks leading up to the Division I Championships and VBSC gets more experience and recognition for hosting these high-caliber events. This is a partnership we hope to continue for years to come.”
Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC)
“The level of competition in MEAC indoor track & field has grown tremendously in recent years. Our student-athletes continue to raise the bar, not just within the conference but on the national stage,” said MEAC Commissioner Sonja O. Stills. “We’re seeing faster times, longer jumps, and stronger performances across the board, which is a testament to the dedication of our athletes, coaches and programs. VBSC was selected as the host venue for the 2025 MEAC Indoor Track & Field Championships due to its state-of-the-art facilities, including a 200-meter hydraulic indoor track, which is rare and highly valued for hosting major Division I track and field events. VBSC’s attention to detail has made it easy for us to host an event at the highest level.”
VBSC’s success as a host extends beyond this unique Championship Week in 2025. In November 2024, VBSC announced its selection by the NCAA to host the 2028 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships. It had previously been awarded other prestigious NCAA events for 2023, 2024, 2025 and 2026.
As the NCAA and affiliated conferences continue to spotlight VBSC as a premier event venue, this historic one-week series of championships will further cement its position as a central hub for collegiate athletics.
