Nominations Open for Annual Human Rights Awards

The Virginia Beach Human Rights Commission (VBHRC) is currently accepting nominations for the 29th Annual Human Rights Awards. The VBHRC recognizes noteworthy individuals and groups who have aided in the understanding of cultural diversity and advocated for the human rights of the City's residents.

The awards committee will evaluate nominees based on community involvement, initiatives and humanitarianism. Eligible nominees are people living or working in Virginia Beach or anyone who has contributed to the promotion of human rights to benefit Virginia Beach residents. Submit your nominations today to acknowledge those who work to protect and promote cultural diversity and advocate for the human rights of all. 

A nomination form must be completed along with at least two references to support the nomination. For more details and to obtain a Human Rights Award application, visit the virginiabeach.gov/HRCawards or contact VBHRC Liaison Dominique McKinnon at 757-385-1158.

All entries must be received by 5 p.m. on Sept. 25 via email, mail or hand-delivery. Please submit completed applications in one of the following ways:
