Virginia Beach Public Library Invites Residents to Join Listening Sessions, Complete Online Survey
For strategic priorities planning, VBPL says ‘let your voices be heard.’
Residents are asked to help Virginia Beach Public Library (VBPL) write its next chapter by sharing input in facilitated listening sessions so the library can continue to serve community needs.
VBPL is offering various methods, dates and locations, so Virginia Beach residents can conveniently participate in identifying strategic priorities for the community for fiscal years 2026-2030. Residents have the option to attend one of six listening sessions held throughout February at selected library branches, a community center and a recreation center. Residents also are welcome to take a print survey available at all library branches or online at VirginiaBeach.gov/NextChapter from March 17-31.
“Because we are community-first, we’re always excited to engage with Virginia Beach residents to understand and serve their evolving needs,” said Kimberly B. Knight, director of Virginia Beach Public Library. “This critical work reflects our mission to meet the lifelong needs of our diverse community by providing access to quality resources, knowledgeable staff, engaging programs and welcoming spaces.”
The library system circulates more than 2 million items across its 10 branches, virtual library and bookmobile each year. In addition, VBPL hosts more than 6,000 programs annually for children, teens and adults.
Residents can register for one of the listening sessions at VirginiaBeach.gov/NextChapter. On-site registration will also be available. Listening session times, dates and locations are:
