Virginia Beach Fire Department’s Life Safety Education Team to Hold Homeschool Public Safety Day, Tuesday, June 4th!

VBFD to Host 3rd Annual "Homeschool Public Safety Day," June 4th

The Virginia Beach Fire Department’s Life Safety Education team is excited to announce the 3rd Annual “Homeschool Public Safety Day," to be held Tuesday, June 4, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Harry E. Diezel Fire Training Center, 927 S. Birdneck Road.

The Homeschool Public Safety Day provides an opportunity for children who are homeschooled and their families to have hands-on experience learning about a variety of public safety topics.  The Virginia Beach homeschooling community is estimated to be approximately 3,000 - so this is a wonderful opportunity to reach this large demographic across the city.

Guests will have the chance to see and tour different public safety vehicles and interact with first responders and community helpers to include the American Red Cross, Virginia Beach Public Library and Parks and Recreation, Virginia Beach Sheriff’s Office, Emergency Medical Services, Virginia Beach Police and Emergency Communications and Citizen Services. Highlights include the Virginia Beach Police Mounted Patrol, fire trucks, the Monster Fire Truck, local author Marna Smith, “Playing Safe with Preston; car seat checks; static displays, hands-on activities; 911 education, and our Public Safety Mascots will be available for photo ops and more!
