VBPD Investigating Fatal Crash on Princess Anne Road

On Feb. 20, 2024, at approximately 6:40 p.m., officers from the Virginia Beach Police Department (VBPD) responded to a traffic crash between a vehicle and a bicyclist in the 4100 block of Princess Anne Rd.

The preliminary investigation indicates that a sedan traveling eastbound on Princess Anne Rd. collided with a bicyclist who was traveling southbound across Princess Anne Rd. The impact threw the bicyclist, James Beckles IV (M/23) of Virginia Beach, into the roadway. Beckles was pronounced deceased at the scene.
