Commonwealth v. David Bruce Crouse Jr.; Former Teacher Sentenced to 20 Years for Possessing, Sharing Child Porn

Virginia Beach, Va. – Colin D. Stolle, Commonwealth’s Attorney for the city of Virginia Beach, announced that David Bruce Crouse Jr., age 57, formerly of the 3500 block of Kings Lake Drive in Virginia Beach, Virginia, was sentenced today for charges of Possession of Child Pornography, Possession of Child Pornography – Subsequent Offense (4 counts), Reproduce, Transmit, Sell, Etc. Child Pornography, and Reproduce, Transmit, Sell, Etc. Child Pornography – Subsequent Offense (4 counts).  Circuit Court Judge Tanya Bullock sentenced Crouse to seventy (70) years in prison with fifty (50) years suspended, leaving twenty (20) years to serve.

Crouse pled guilty on October 21, 2023.  Had this matter gone to trial, the Commonwealth’s evidence would have proven that in 2019, investigators with the Virginia Beach Police Department began an investigation involving a BitTorrent network that was sharing images of child sexual abuse material.  From October 2018 to July 2022, over 10,000 files of child pornography were shared from a residence in the 3500 block of Kings Lake Drive in Virginia Beach.  A thorough investigation revealed that Crouse resided at that address and was responsible for sharing the child pornography. Crouse was arrested at his place of employment, Arrowhead Elementary School in Virginia Beach.  In an interview with police, Crouse admitted he was responsible for sharing all of the child pornography coming from his residence.

Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney C. Andrew Rice prosecuted this case. Please contact Macie Allen if additional information is desired.
