VBPD Makes Arrest in Brush Creek Lane Shooting
On July 31, 2024, at 6:51 p.m., officers from the Virginia Beach Police Department (VBPD) responded to the 2400 block of Brush Creek Lane for a report of a shooting.
Upon arrival, officers located a seven-year-old male victim with non-life-threatening injuries. A preliminary investigation uncovered that the victim had been accidentally shot by another juvenile male.
VBPD detectives have determined the firearm used in this incident had not been properly secured by its owner. Ā On Aug. 9, 2024, Sheneka Warren-Boykins (F/38) was arrested and charged with one Felony count of Child Neglect and one Misdemeanor count of Allowing Access of Firearms by Children.Ā āOnce again, I will make a plea to our community, asking them to take the necessary steps to keep their firearms out of the hands of those who should not have accessā, said Chief Paul Neudigate.Ā āWhen those steps are not taken and that negligence results in violence in our city, we will pursue all appropriate charges.ā
