VBPD Arrests Driver in Single Vehicle Crash Resulting in Two Fatalities
On July 31, 2024, at approximately 12:32 a.m., Emergency Communications and Citizen Services (ECCS) received a call reporting a single vehicle crash at the intersection of Shipps Corner Rd. and Old Clubhouse Rd. Virginia Beach Police Department (VBPD) officers responded and located the vehicle in the tree line along the 2900 block of Shipps Corner Road.
Officers located two passengers in the vehicle, Francisco Bisono IV (M/32) of Virginia Beach and Shawn Babonis (M/65) of Virginia Beach, who were pinned and unresponsive. Both passengers were pronounced deceased on scene. The driver of the vehicle, later identified as Adam Cieniewicz (M/36) of Virginia Beach, had fled the scene.
A warrant was issued for Cieniewicz’s arrest on a charge for felony Hit and Run. Cieniewicz was apprehended later in the day without incident.
