Update: VBPD Investigate Fatal Shooting of Juvenile on Almandine Avenue
While investigating this homicide, VBPD detectives determined that the firearm used in the offense had not been properly secured allowing it to be obtained by the juvenile suspect charged with the shooting in this incident.
On July 14, 2024, Caromekia Parker (F/38) was arrested and charged with Felony Child Neglect.

On March 7, 2024, at 6:16 p.m., Virginia Beach Emergency Communications and Citizens Services (ECCS) received a call for a gunshot victim in the 4900 block of Almandine Avenue. VBPD officers arrived on scene and located a 14-year-old male suffering from a gunshot wound. First responders attempted to provide aide to the victim upon arrival, but the victim succumbed to his injury and was pronounced deceased on-scene.
The investigation indicates that the victim and other juveniles had been handling a firearm when it discharged, striking the victim.
A 16-year-old male has been charged with Involuntary Manslaughter, Juvenile Possession of a Firearm, and Shooting Inside an Occupied Dwelling. A 15-year-old male has been charged with Obstructing Justice.
