ShotSpotter Alert Leads to Arrest on Scarborough Way
On May 25, 2026, at approximately 1:30 a.m., Virginia Beach Police Department (VBPD) officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert of gunfire in the 3000 block of Scarborough Way. Arriving officers canvased the location and encountered Mila Allen (F/31) of Virginia Beach.
Further investigation revealed that Allen had discharged a 9mm handgun following a domestic dispute.
Mila Allen was arrested and charged with:
·        Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon
·        Reckless Handling of a Firearm
·        Discharging a firearm within city limits
“ShotSpotter continues to be a gamechanger for how we combat gun violence in Virginia Beach,” said Police Chief Paul Neudigate. “We aren't just guessing where gunshots occurred; this technology enables an expedited police response the second a trigger is pulled. If you choose to shoot a weapon in our community, ShotSpotter ensures our officers are able to swiftly respond and hold you criminally accountable.”
