Most City of Virginia Beach Offices and Facilities Closed Feb. 21 Due to Winter Weather
Due to impacts from Winter Storm Kingston, most City of Virginia Beach facilities and offices will be closed Friday, Feb. 21, with the following exceptions:
- The Virginia Aquarium & Marine Science Center will open at 9 a.m., Feb. 21.
- The Sandler Center for Performing Arts will hold its 8 p.m. show, “Annie,” Feb. 21.
Trash collection will also remain suspended Feb. 21. Public Works will re-evaluate secondary roadways tomorrow to determine if collection can resume on Saturday.
Crews have prioritized snow clearing and de-icing at recreation centers and libraries with the goal of allowing them to open at their regular hours on Saturday, Feb. 22.

Residents are advised to stay indoors to avoid icy road conditions as much as possible. Residents can stay informed during local emergencies including major weather events by signing up for VBAlert. Text “VBAlert” to 67283 or sign up at VirginiaBeach.gov/VBAlert to receive important messages and emergency alert notifications from the City of Virginia Beach and Emergency Management during inclement weather.
