Members of Virginia Task Force 2 (VATF-2) USAR Activated to Support Response to Tropical Cyclone Debby

Forty-five members of Virginia Task Force 2 were activated at 1400 hours on Sunday, Aug. 4, 2024, as a Type 3 Team, in response to Tropical Cyclone Debby. The team will depart at 0700 hours, Monday, Aug. 5, and will be staging in Columbia, South Carolina, late Monday afternoon. Eight members, part of Incident Support Team (IST) 8, left Sunday, Aug. 4 at 0500 hours, for Macon, Georgia. They will rendezvous with FEMA IST in Georgia and assist local agencies with requests for assistance as needed. 

VA-TF2 USAR is one of 28 FEMA Urban Search and Rescue Teams positioned across the country. The Virginia Beach Fire Department is the sponsoring agency for VA-T-2. VATF-2 has conducted search and rescue operations in the aftermath of numerous disasters.
