Commonwealth v. Kyle Justin LaLonde; Former Police Officer Sentenced to 11 Years for Attempted Sex Crimes Against Children, Bestiality
Virginia Beach, Va. – Colin D. Stolle, Commonwealth’s Attorney for the city of Virginia Beach, announced that Kyle Justin LaLonde, age 32, of the 4200 block of Beasley Court in Virginia Beach, Virginia, was sentenced today on charges of Attempted Indecent Liberties (Victim Under Age 15), Propose Sex Act by Communication System (of Minor Victim Under Age 15, Offender 7+ Years Older), Solicitation to Commit Carnal Knowledge, Possession of Child Pornography, Possession of Child Pornography – 2nd or Subsequent Offense (3 counts), and Possess Bestiality Image (4 counts). Circuit Court Judge Afshin Farashahi sentenced LaLonde to sixty (60) years in prison with 49 years suspended, leaving eleven (11) years to serve. He must be on good behavior for thirty (30) years, may not have any communication with minors, may not reside with or be in close proximity to minors, and is required to register with the Sex Offenses and Crimes Against Minors Registry. He also must be on supervised probation for five (5) years upon release and complete any recommended sex offender treatment.
LaLonde pled guilty on September 18, 2024. Had this matter gone to trial, the Commonwealth’s evidence would have proven that between September 13, 2023, and March 5, 2024, LaLonde was in the City of Virginia Beach using electronic systems to communicate with an undercover officer. LaLonde created a Kik Messenger account and had conversations with an undercover FBI agent who was posing as a 12-year-old girl. He sent several sexually explicit messages asking for consensual sexual acts. He also sent pornography to the undercover agent.
Virginia Beach Police executed a search warrant of LaLonde’s residence based on the IP address used for the account. They searched his personal computer and phone and found multiple files of child sexual assault material and several videos and images depicting bestiality.
Deputy Commonwealth’s Attorney Michael D. Defricke and Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney C. Andrew Rice prosecuted this case. Please contact Macie Allen if additional information is desired.
