Commonwealth v. Alex Allen Edwards Jr.; 50 Years to Serve for Killing, Robbing Teen During Planned Fake Marijuana Deal

Virginia Beach, Va. – Colin D. Stolle, Commonwealth’s Attorney for the city of Virginia Beach, announced that Alex Allen Edwards Jr., age 18, formerly of the 5600 block of Campus Drive in Virginia Beach, Virginia was sentenced on charges of First Degree Murder, Robbery Causing Death, Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony (2 counts), and Conspiracy. Circuit Court Judge Sal Iaquinto sentenced Edwards to 148 years in prison, with 98 years suspended, leaving fifty (50) years to serve.

Edwards pled guilty on December 12, 2024.   Had this matter gone to trial, the Commonwealth’s evidence would have proven that on January 28, 2024, Edwards and his friend, Ariyon Allen, planned a fake marijuana transaction with the victim, Logan Fuehrer, to rob him of the marijuana. The transaction was set up through the app, Telegram. According to messages later recovered by detectives, the purchase was originally to take place at 700 Trellis Way in Virginia Beach but was switched to 701 Baker Road in Virginia Beach. When the victim arrived at 701 Baker Road, Allen pretended to make several transactions on Cash App for the agreed upon $90, but the transactions were never completed. The victim had a handgun in his lap during the attempted transaction.  While Allen pretended to make payments on Cash App, Edwards shot the victim two times, killing him. Edwards and Allen stole the victim’s gun before fleeing the scene.

Search warrants for the victim’s Telegram account showed that the victim had communicated with Edwards before the robbery and murder.  Also, a search warrant of Edwards’ residence yielded the victim’s stolen firearm.  Detectives recovered social media posts in which Edwards and Allen were trying to sell the victim’s stolen firearm.

Ariyon Allen, age 17, pled guilty to charges of Second Degree Murder, Robbery Causing Death, and two (2) counts of Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony.  He is set to be sentenced on July 2, 2025.

Both defendants were juveniles at the time of these offenses, but their cases were certified to Circuit Court for trial as adults due to the serious nature of the crimes.

Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney C. Andrew Rice prosecuted this case. Please contact Macie Allen if additional information is desired.
