Councilmembers Michael Berlucchi, Barbara Henley and Chris Taylor invite the public to attend their community events next week.

Councilmember Taylor invites Virginia Beach high schoolers on their respective school’s Student Council Association (SCA) to attend a citywide Student Council Association meeting to share ideas regarding the city and efforts to contribute to the community. Open to all residents, it will take place 5-7 p.m. on Monday, May 20, in the auditorium at Virginia MOCA.

Resources for mental health and wellness will be shared at a free event for the public, the H.O.P.E. (Helping Our People Excel) Mental Health and Wellness Resource Fair, 5:30-7:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 22, in Building 19 at the Municipal Center. Hosted by Councilmember Michael Berlucchi, attendees can learn about registered H.O.P.E. partners and City departments focused on mental health and well-being. One table at the event will allow attendees to experience a guided breathing experience. Other partners featured at the Resource Fair include organizations focused on:

  • Behavioral health or mental health
  • Suicide prevention
  • Counseling
  • Substance use prevention
  • Physical health
  • Mindfulness and meditation

On Thursday, May 23, Councilmember Henley will host her monthly District 2 community meeting from 5:15-7 p.m. in Building 19 at the Municipal Center. Held the fourth Thursday of each month, the meetings are held to update residents on current City projects and issues. Residents will have an opportunity to meet and build relationships with other members of the district, engage and participate in the conversation and have their questions addressed.

All meetings are free and open to the public.
