When practiced legally and responsibly, sports betting and other gambling can be fun and entertaining. Responsible gambling means setting and sticking to limits on money and time invested, walking away without stress, anger or the urge to continue playing, and ensuring that gambling never interferes with responsibilities or relationships.

Problem gambling is a behavioral disorder that can seriously disrupt daily life. It may lead to financial stress, relationship difficulties, mental health challenges and other life-altering consequences. With early action, support and the right tools, many people regain control of their gambling and rebuild healthier habits.

Common Signs of Problem Gambling

  • Frequently running short on money
  • Withdrawing from family or friends
  • A decline in work performance
  • Being secretive about spending or finances
  • Taking out multiple loans or borrowing money

Problem Gambling is Treatable

If someone you care about may be dealing with problem gambling, approach them with care, not criticism, and start a thoughtful conversation. Help set practical boundaries such as limiting access to money or gambling apps. Seek professional support and assistance:
