New Resources Available on Local Election System Referendum
Videos, outreach help Virginia Beach voters prepare for Nov. 4 ballot question.
In November, Virginia Beach residents will vote on how City councilmembers are elected. The City of Virginia Beach wants to make sure that all voters have the information they need to make an informed choice. Â
Additional Learning Opportunities and ResourcesÂ
As residents get back to the fall routine, the City is providing more opportunities to learn about the referendum. New videos are now available on the Referendum webpage that feature City staff answering some of the frequently asked questions (FAQ) on the referendum.Â
City Communications Office members are also staffing pop-up educational tables with referendum flyers at the busiest times at the Virginia Beach Public Library branches and recreation centers, as well as at special events at the Virginia Beach Farmers Market and other community events. Visit the Referendum webpage for the most up-to-date schedule.
Additional resources and outreach are planned, leading up to the start of early voting on Sept. 19 and election day on Nov. 4.Â
Other information and resources available on the  Referendum webpage include the text of the referendum question, a 500-word neutral explanation of the question that is allowed under law, flyers to download (including those in Spanish and Tagalog) and a toolkit for groups and individuals to host their own discussion on the referendum.Â
After reading the webpage information, visitors are asked to complete a one-question survey about the information.  Â
