Summer is right around the corner, and with it comes a full month of fun throughout Virginia Beach. Whether you're looking to explore nature, enjoy live entertainment or get creative, there’s something happening nearly every day. Here’s everything you need to know to make June unforgettable.
Events and Activities
Sharks After Dark
June 4, 6-9 p.m., Virginia Aquarium & Marine Science Center, 717 General Booth Blvd.
Cost: $19/members, $38/non-members
Adults can enjoy music and delicious bites and drinks at the Virginia Aquarium’s monthly Sharks After Dark event. June's theme will celebrate Pride Month. Experience a vibrant night under the sea with a DJ, signature cocktails, and after-hours aquarium access. This colorful evening highlights community, connection and fun in a lively ocean backdrop. This event is for guests who are at least 21 years old. ID will be checked at the door for entry.

Community Days: Rise of the Automobile
June 6, 10 a.m. to noon, Francis Land House, 3131 Virginia Beach Blvd.
FREE and open to the public
The Virginia Beach History Museums invite you to June's free, First Saturday Community Day. Come by the Francis Land House to take a trip back to the 1920s and discover how the automobile shaped tourism and travel in Virginia Beach. Enjoy story time and explore this fascinating moment in local history.
History Lunch and Learn: The History of African American Communities in Princess Anne County
June 11, noon, Lynnhaven House Colonial Education Center, 4409 Wishart Road
FREE and open to the public
Come learn about the formation of African American communities in Princess Anne County from the Civil War through the 1950s from historian Edna Hawkins-Hendrix. Bring your own lunch to enjoy during the discussions.
Parks After Dark
June 11-Aug. 22, 6-10 p.m., Williams Farm Park; Level Green Park; Rosemont Elementary School
FREE and open to the public
Spend summer evenings outdoors with Virginia Beach Parks & Recreation and enjoy games, entertainment and recreation for all ages. With three rotating locations, there are plenty of chances to enjoy warm nights with family and friends.
Honey Festival
June 13, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Virginia Beach Farmers Market, 3640 Dam Neck Road
FREE and open to the public
Spend a sweet Saturday at the Virginia Beach Farmers Market and enjoy food trucks, music, children's activities and more. Browse more than 90 craft vendors and see live bee displays.
African American Music Month Celebration
June 13, 2-4 p.m., Susan S. Goode Fine & Performing Arts Center at Virginia Wesleyan University, 5817 Wesleyan Drive
Cost: $10/adults; $5/seniors and children
Experience powerful steel pan rhythms and performances from local cultural groups and youth artists. This afternoon gathering honors the rich influence of African and African American musical traditions. Tickets are available at the door, though advanced registration is encouraged as space is limited.
Wildlife Rescue Changing Exhibit at the Virginia Aquarium
June 14-Sept. 13, Virginia Aquarium & Marine Science Center, 717 General Booth Blvd.
Included with admission
Walk the Nature Trail and discover 12 detailed sculptures of animals brought back from the brink of extinction. It’s a fun, interactive way to explore wildlife conservation success stories.
Elder Abuse Awareness Expo & Walk
June 15, 10 a.m. to noon, Mount Trashmore Park, Shelter 1, 310 Edwin Drive
FREE and open to the public
Join the Virginia Beach Department of Human Services and learn how to spot and report elder abuse while connecting with local resource providers. Relax under the shelter or join the optional 1.5-mile walk around the park.
Party at the Pier — Summer Series
June 16 & June 23, 8:30 p.m. | June 18 & June 25, 6-9 p.m., Little Island Park, 3820 Sandpiper Road
Cost: FREE and open to the public
Bring your chairs and blankets for Virginia Beach Parks & Recreation's beachfront movie nights and live music in Sandbridge. Enjoy local bands, family favorites on the sand, free popcorn (while supplies last) and ocean views all evening. For June, movie nights will be June 16 and June 23, and concerts are June 18 and June 25. More events will take place in July. Free parking is available after 5 p.m. daily.
Fishing at the Aquarium
June 18, 5:30-8 p.m., Virginia Aquarium & Marine Science Center, 717 General Booth Blvd.
Cost: $55/members, $50/non-members
Try catch-and-release fishing with guidance from aquarium educators. Learn techniques, identification tips and conservation rules while casting a line over Owls Creek. Open to guests aged 9 and older. Guests under 18 must be accompanied by a participating adult. Guests will need to bring their own fishing pole. Bait and other fishing gear will be provided.
Play All Day VA
June 21, sunup to sundown, Mount Trashmore Park, 310 Edwin Drive
FREE and open to the public
Experience a full day of recreation, wellness and family fun from sunrise yoga to evening music. Try games, sports, crafts, nature activities and more during this statewide day of play.
Friday Night Hoedowns
Now through October, 7-10 p.m., Virginia Beach Farmers Market, 3640 Dam Neck Road
FREE and open to the public
On Friday nights through October, visit the Virginia Beach Farmers Market for free, live, local music! Hosted by the Virginia Beach Department of Agriculture, the hoedowns are held rain or shine. Some seating is available or bring your own lawn chair or blanket. There are five Fridays in May to enjoy local bands. Find the complete schedule with list of performing bands online.
Dolphin Watching Boat Tours
Now through October, Virginia Aquarium & Marine Science Center, 717 General Booth Blvd.
Enjoy a relaxed, family-friendly ride on the Atlantic Explorer to see bottlenose dolphins and other coastal Virginia animals such as seabirds, sea turtles and more. Guests will join the Virginia Aquarium’s knowledgeable educators on board to learn about their unique sightings while on the water. Tours are approximately 90 minutes. Dolphin sightings are not guaranteed, and tours are weather-dependent. Book a boat tour today!
