Councilmembers Stacy Cummings and Barbara Henley invite the public to attend their upcoming district community meetings. A Key to the City ceremony is also open to the public.

Virginia Beach City Council passed an ordinance on Sept. 2 to allow City staff to provide support for a Timbaland Dedication Day Celebration for producer, artist and songwriter, Timbaland. As part of the celebration, a Key to the City presentation will take place on the field at Salem High School following a parade at approximately 10:30 a.m.

A celebratory parade will occur prior to the ceremony starting at 9:30 a.m. Please note the eastbound lanes of Lynnhaven Parkway will be closed from about 9-10:30 a.m. between Salem Middle School and Salem High School to accommodate the parade.

On Monday, Oct. 20, Councilmember Cummings will host a District 8 community meeting to update residents on current City topics, including e-bikes and the Local Election System Referendum. Residents are encouraged to attend and ask questions regarding the referendum question on the ballot for the upcoming election. The meeting will be 5:30-7:30 p.m. in the auditorium at the Meyera E. Oberndorf Central Library.

Councilmember Henley will host her monthly District 2 community meeting from 5:15-7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 23, in Building 19 at the Municipal Center to update residents on current City projects and issues. Residents will have an opportunity to meet and build relationships with other members of the district, engage and participate in the conversation and have their questions addressed.

District 2 meetings are typically held on the fourth Thursday of each month except for November and December due to the holidays. Please note there is no meeting in November, and the last meeting of the year will be held in early December.

All events are free and open to the public.
