City Council Members Hosting Community Events in May

Councilmembers Cummings, Henley, Remick and Schulman will host community meetings this month.

Councilmembers Stacy Cummings, Barbara Henley, Worth Remick and Joash Schulman invite the public to attend their upcoming community meetings.

Councilmember Remick will host a District 6 community meeting 6:30-8 p.m. on Thursday, May 14, to update residents on current issues. Topics of discussion include a public safety update, Tourism in Virginia Beach (Tourism Investment Program/Tourism Advertising Program) and an update from First Landing State Park. There will be time for follow-up questions. The meeting will be held in the auditorium at Virginia Beach Middle School. Doors open at 6 p.m.

On Wednesday, May 20, Councilmember Cummings will host a District 8 community meeting. The event, "Keeping Small Businesses in Virginia Beach" will feature presentations from Economic Development staff on programs and resources that support small business owners, including The Hive Business Center, located in Town Center, followed by a Q&A session. The meeting will be 5:30-7:30 p.m. in the Meyera E. Oberndorf Central Library Auditorium.

Councilmembers Cummings and Schulman will cohost a community meeting on Wednesday, May 27. Topic of discussion will be the action City Council recently took on coastal storm risk management with guest speaker Mike Tippen, Public Works Stormwater Engineering Center administrator. The meeting will be 6-8 p.m. in the cafeteria at Frank W. Cox High School. Park and enter through the cafeteria doors at the rear of the building.

Councilmember Henley will host her monthly District 2 community meeting from 5:15-7 p.m. on Thursday, May 28, in Building 19 at the Municipal Center to update residents on current City projects and issues. Residents will have an opportunity to meet and build relationships with other members of the district, engage and participate in the conversation and have their questions addressed.​
