48,000+ Data Points, One Vision — Creating Rudee Park Together
Since 2022, the Rudee Park project has continuously evolved, prioritizing a community-focused approach that centers on public access.

The future of Rudee Park is taking shape, fueled by the tide of community engagement and feedback! At the end of 2024, the Rudee Park design team hosted three community events and an online survey to gather feedback on the programs and amenities residents want to see in the park.
The team also engaged high school students across Virginia Beach to incorporate a younger perspective into the vision. So far, Phase 1 has collected over 48,000 data points, from these sources:
- Verbal and written comments from in-person events
- Student discussions
- Community events
- Stakeholder focus groups
- Online survey
In total, about 7,000 people across the city contributed their voices. The community’s input has been instrumental in shaping the three design concepts that will be presented next month. From the collected data, here’s how residents prioritized their preferences:
Provide Your Input
We still need your input — join us at one of the upcoming public meetings to share your thoughts on the three design concepts:
- Feb. 10, 6-7:30 p.m., Green Run High School, 1700 Dahlia Drive
- Feb. 11, 6-7:30 p.m., Cox High School, 2425 Shorehaven Drive
- Feb. 12, 6-7:30 p.m., Virginia Beach Convention Center, 1000 19th St.
These meetings are your chance to see how your feedback has shaped the designs, share more ideas, meet the design team, and connect with neighbors. Your input will help refine the concepts to reflect the community's vision for Rudee Park.
