City Council Members Hosting Community Events in September

Councilmembers Michael Berlucchi, Dave Hutcheson and Cash Jackson-Green invite the public to attend their upcoming district community meetings.

Councilmember Jackson-Green will host a District 7 community meeting 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 16, to update residents on current city projects and issues. Topics of discussion include a comprehensive briefing and update on the Centerville Turnpike Phase II project, a tutorial from the Planning Department on the Monthly Land Use Report and webpage navigation, and the new Ages & Stages initiative. There will be time for Q&A with the council member. It will be held in the auditorium at Salem High School.

On Thursday, Sept. 17, Councilmember Hutcheson will host a District 1 community meeting where residents will have the opportunity to meet and connect with their district representative. Attendees are encouraged to bring any questions or concerns to the table.​ The meeting will be held 6:30-8 p.m. in the auditorium at Kempsville High School.

Join Councilmember Berlucchi at his District 3 community meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 23. Residents will hear updates from Cultural Affairs, specifically on the Mount Trashmore Park public art project, and from Public Works on the Flood Protection Program projects in District 3, highlighting the mega bundle projects. Sheriff Rocky Holcomb also will share details about mental health initiatives at the Virginia Beach Correctional Center. It will be 6:30-8 p.m. in Rooms 1 and 2 at the Kempsville Recreation Center.

All meetings are free and open to the public.
