Waste Management Adjusts Collection Schedule to ‘Beat the Heat’

Due to forecasted high temperatures, Virginia Beach Public Works Waste Management will begin residential waste and recycling collections at 6 a.m. on scheduled collection days from Aug. 11-14.

Residents are asked to place all carts, yard waste and scheduled bulky items at the curb the night before or no later than 6 a.m. to ensure timely service. Collection days will not change.

The earlier start allows crews to complete more physically demanding work during the cooler morning hours, reducing prolonged exposure to extreme heat while helping maintain regular service.
