Virginia Beach Human Rights Commission Hosting Affordable Housing Forum on Feb. 21

The Virginia Beach Human Rights Commission (VBHRC) is hosting a forum, “Community Conversations: Affordable Housing,” 2-4:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 21, at Meyera E. Oberndorf Central Library, 4100 Virginia Beach Blvd. 

The event will include a panel discussion on housing needs and affordability featuring regional community leaders and organizers: 

  • Melissa Bonfiglio, deputy director and director, Litigation for Legal Aid Society of Eastern Virginia  
  • Gustavo Espinosa, senior organizer and policy advocate, Legal Aid Justice Center 
  • Victor Leite, chief executive officer, Dwell, a workforce and attainable housing provider serving Hampton Roads 
  • Gus Maxwell, public outreach coordinator, Hampton Roads Transit 
  • Sharon Shoff, Housing Development manager, Department of Housing and Neighborhood Preservation 

After the panel discussion, various organizations will be available to share information on resources and opportunities for residents to get involved in the community.
