VBPD Makes Arrest in Shots Fired Incident
The Virginia Beach Police Department (VBPD) Fourth Precinct Crime Suppression Squad (4th CSS) has obtained felony and misdemeanor charges for a Shots Fired incident that occurred on November 2, 2025. On that date, officers responded to the 1200 block of Edenham Court, where it was reported an individual discharged a firearm from a moving vehicle.
On November 27, 2025, officers investigated a separate firearm related offense with similarities to the November 2, 2025, incident. The following day, on November 28, 2025, officers from the Suffolk Police Department (SPD) conducted a traffic stop on the suspect’s vehicle, ultimately arresting the driver on firearms and narcotics charges.
As part of the investigation, a National Integrated Ballistic Information Network (NIBIN) association linked the shell casings recovered from the November 2, 2025, incident to a firearm that had been recovered. Investigative work conducted by 4th CSS, the VBPD Crime Gun Investigative Squad, and the arrest by SPD identified the suspect as Nathaniel Powell (M/18) of Portsmouth, who has been charged with reckless handling of a firearm, discharging a firearm within city limits, and shooting from a vehicle to endanger persons.
This incident remains under investigation by the 4th Precinct Crime Suppression Squad. Anyone with information is asked to contact VBPD at (757) 385-2800 or anonymously through Crime Solvers at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP or P3Tips.com.
(Note: The charges mentioned in this press release are accusations, and the arrested individual is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.)
