VBPD Makes Arrest in Rodney Lane Homicide

On May 7, 2025, at approximately 11:11 a.m., officers from the Virginia Beach Police Department (VBPD) responded to the 500 block of Rodney Lane for a report of a shooting.

Upon arrival, officers located an adult male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound inside the residence. Emergency medical personnel pronounced him deceased at the scene. The victim was identified as Woodard McClure (M/90) of Virginia Beach.

A female resident, later identified as Jennifer Mulligan (F/43) of Virginia Beach, was taken into custody without incident. Preliminary investigation indicates this was a domestic-related incident.

VBPD Violent Crimes Unit conducted a comprehensive investigation, which led to Mulligan being charged with First Degree Murder and Use of a Firearm in Commission of a Felony.
