VBPD Makes Arrest in Reckless Driving and Seizes E-Bike

The Virginia Beach Police Department has charged a 15-year-old on a modified electric dirt bike after a dangerous, high-speed evasion of multiple officers. The teen, who was already on court-ordered probation for prior reckless riding, was caught despite three previous warnings and charges for the same behavior.

On Saturday, June 6, 2026, at approximately 4:18 p.m., an officer observed the juvenile riding a white electric dirt bike exiting Flanagan’s Lane onto SandBridge Road. When the officer attempted a traffic stop, the juvenile accelerated away at high speed, later passing additional marked units and again refusing to stop. The helicopter unit arrived overhead and maintained visual contact until the juvenile abandoned the bike and was taken into custody.

The dirt bike, valued at more than $6,000 and equipped with a 16,800-watt battery pack capable of speeds exceeding 59 mph, had been altered and upgraded beyond its intended design. These modifications significantly increase the risk of severe injury or death to the rider and the public.

Reckless driving and misdemeanor eluding are included in the total of 13 charges levied against the operator of the electric motorcycle. The bike was seized and entered into evidence until the case is heard in Virginia Beach’s Juvenile Domestic Relations Court.

This incident remains under investigation by the First Precinct. Anyone with information is asked to contact VBPD at (757) 385-4377 or submit anonymous tips through Crime Solvers at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP or P3Tips.com.

Note: The charges mentioned in this press release are accusations, and the arrested individual is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
