VBPD Makes Arrest in Malicious Wounding on South Budding Avenue
On May 30, 2026, at 3:22 a.m., the Emergency Communication and Citizens Services (ECCS) received a report of a shooting in the 200 block of South Budding Avenue.
Upon arrival, Virginia Beach Police Department (VBPD) officers located an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to an area hospital in stable condition.
The VBPD Homicide Unit assumed the lead in the investigation and arrested Tirrell Smith (M/36) of Hampton for this offense. Smith was charged with the following offenses:
·     Aggravated malicious wounding
·     Use of a firearm in the commission of a felony
·     Shooting into an occupied dwelling
