VBPD Makes Arrest in Malicious Wounding on Carew Road

On June 15, 2026, at 12:11 a.m., the Emergency Communication and Citizens Services (ECCS) received a call for a person who had been shot in the 800 block of Carew Road. Upon arrival, Virginia Beach Police Department (VBPD) officers located an adult male gunshot victim with serious injuries and in stable condition. The victim was transported to an area hospital and is expected to survive. The remaining victims located at the scene sustained minor injuries.

The VBPD Homicide Squad assumed the lead of the investigation. On June 16, 2026, detectives arrested Brayden Devers (M/21) of Portsmouth. Devers was charged with the following:

·          One count (1) aggravated malicious wounding

·          Four counts (4) attempted malicious wounding

·          Five counts (5) use of a firearm in the commission of a felony

·          One count (1) shooting into an occupied vehicle
