VBPD Makes Arrest in Homicide on Chancery Square
On April 8, 2026, at approximately 1:31 p.m.,the Emergency Communication and Citizens Services (ECCS) received a report of a shooting in the 600 block of Chancery Square.
Upon arrival, Virginia Beach Police Department (VBPD) officers located a male victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Michael Armstrong (M/41) of Virginia Beach was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Detectives with the VBPD’s Homicide Unit lead the investigation, identifying Juan Armstrong (M/46) of Virginia Beach as the suspect. Armstrong was immediately taken into custody. Armstrong was charged with second-degree murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by a violent convicted felon.
