VBPD Makes Arrest in Fatal Shooting on North Great Neck Road

On Sept. 27, 2025, at 2:14 a.m., Emergency Communications and Citizen Services (ECCS) received a report of a gunshot victim located in the 400 block of N. Great Neck Rd. VBPD officers arrived on scene and located Juelle Morton (M/20) of Newport News suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Morton was pronounced deceased at the scene.

While investigating the incident, VBPD detectives identified Cesar Bermudez Evans (M/21) of Norfolk as the suspect.

Evans was apprehended on Sept. 28, 2025, and charged with Second Degree Murder and Use of Firearm in Commission of Felony.
