VBPD Investigating Fatal Crash on South Independence Boulevard

On Aug. 27, 2025, at approximately 12:59 a.m., officers from the Virginia Beach Police Department (VBPD) responded to the 2200 block of S. Independence Blvd. for a crash involving a pedestrian. 

First responders arrived on scene and located one victim — Morgan Babecki (M/29) of Virginia Beach. Babecki was pronounced deceased at the scene. 

The driver of the involved vehicle stayed on scene and cooperated with investigators. No charges are anticipated in this incident.
