VBPD Investigating Fatal Crash on Shore Drive

On February 13, 2026, at approximately 6:00 p.m.,Emergency Communications and Citizen Services (ECCS) received a report of a two-vehicle crash in the 5500 block of Shore Drive.  Virginia Beach Police Department (VBPD) officers and Virginia Beach Fire located both drivers. The driver of vehicle 1 was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of vehicle 2, Ronald Lockamy Jr. (M/62) of Virginia Beach, was transported to an area hospital in critical condition.

On February 14, 2026, Lockamy succumbed to his injuries while in the hospital.

A preliminary investigation determined Lockamy was traveling east on Shore Drive, when the driver of vehicle 1 proceeded into his traffic lane. Lockamy’s vehicle impacted the left side of vehicle 1.
