VBPD Investigating Fatal Crash on Indian River Road
On October 4, 2025, at approximately 4:00 a.m., officers from the Virginia Beach Police Department (VBPD) responded to a single vehicle crash in the 2700 block of Indian River Road.
The preliminary investigation revealed that the driver, Samuel Sandler (M/58) of Kill Devil Hills, NC, was traveling eastbound when his vehicle drifted off the roadway and struck a culvert.
Sandler was transported to a local hospital in critical condition. On October 6, 2025, Sandler succumbed to his injuries.
