VBPD Investigating Fatal Crash on Diamond Springs Road

On December 27, 2025, at 11:38 a.m., Emergency Communications and Citizen Services (ECCS) received a report of a motorcycle crash in the 800 block of Diamond Springs Road. Officers from the Virginia Beach Police Department (VBPD) responded to the scene.

The motorcycle rider, Kerry Lawing (M/53) of Virginia Beach, was transported to an area hospital with life‑threatening injuries. On December 28, 2025, Lawing was pronounced deceased.

A preliminary investigation determined that Lawing was heading south on Diamond Springs Road when a vehicle turned in front of him, leading to a collision. The other driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.
