Update: VBPD Investigating Death on Princess Anne Road

On July 14, 2025, VBPD has continued to investigate the incident leading to the death of Jamie Bills (M/51) of Virginia Beach on March 2, 2025.

As a result of the VBPD's investigation and with assistance from the Office of the Commonwealth's Attorney, the following charges were obtained by direct indictment on July 7, 2025: 

• John Round III (M/60) of Chesapeake: Involuntary Manslaughter and Assault and Battery
• Sridaharan Sangaran (M/55) of Virginia Beach: Malicious Wounding, Attempted Malicious Wounding, and two counts of Assault and Battery

(Note: The charges mentioned in this press release are accusations, and the arrested individual is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.)

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA, March 3, 2025 – On March 1, 2025, at 8:47 p.m., officers from the Virginia Beach Police Department (VBPD) responded to the 5200 block of Princess Anne Rd. for a fight in progress. 

Officers arrived and found a 51-year-old male unresponsive. The individual was transported to a local hospital, where he later was pronounced deceased.
