VBPD Investigates a Homicide and Infant Death

On May 31, 2026, at approximately 9 a.m., Emergency Communications and Citizen Services (ECCS) received a call reporting a domestic assault in the 5000 block of Magnolia Chase Way.  As VBPD officers were approaching the residence, they heard gunfire.  Officers were able to gain entry into the location and discovered Natasha Forbes (F/22) of Virginia Beach deceased at the scene. Quentell Lawrence (M/22) of Virginia Beach was also found with life-threatening injuries and transported to an area hospital.

The investigation at this point indicates Lawrence shot Forbes and his wounds were self-inflicted.  Lawrence remains at a local hospital with life-threatening injuries; charges for 2nd Degree Murder and the Use of a Firearm in Commission of a Felony have been secured for him in this incident.

Additionally, on May 30, 2026, there was a separate incident connected to the above individuals.  At approximately 2 p.m., ECCS received a call for an unresponsive child in a car traveling in the 5000 block of Lynnhaven Parkway.  ECCS personnel advised the caller to pull over and perform CPR.  Upon arrival, emergency personnel discovered a non-responsive infant, who was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

VBPD is awaiting a determination from the Medical Examiner’s Office on cause and manner of the death for the infant.
