VBPD Investigate Fatal Crash on Sandbridge Road

On July 4, 2026, at approximately 7:45 a.m., Emergency Communications and Citizen Services (ECCS) received a report of a single-vehicle crash in the 700 block of Sandbridge Road. Virginia Beach Police Department (VBPD) and Emergency Medical Services located one victim, Wasif Shaikh (M/58) of Lorton, with life threatening injuries.

Shaikh was transported to an area hospital but was later pronounced deceased. A preliminary investigation found Shaikh left the roadway, struck a culvert, and the vehicle flipped into a ditch.
