VBPD Arrests Drug Trafficker, Seizes $305,000 in Cash, Firearms and Narcotics

On March 22, 2026, a Second Precinct patrol officer observed a male sleeping in a running vehicle in the 2300 block of Ebb Tide Road.  In plain view inside the vehicle was a large amount of marijuana and U.S. Currency. A patrol sergeant placed a tire deflation device under the vehicle prior to waking the occupant.  As expected, the driver fled but the abandoned vehicle was quickly found unoccupied in the 3200 block of Lynnhaven Drive.  Several pounds of marijuana and psilocybin mushroom candy were found nearby.

Officers traced the registered owner of the vehicle to a residence in the 5200 block of Thatcher Way, where the Third Precinct Crime Suppression Squad (CSS) executed a search warrant.  CSS and Special Investigation Bureau (SIB) detectives seized the following:

    •     $305,609 in U.S. Currency

    •     Two vehicles

    •     Two handguns

    •     28.31 lbs. of marijuana

    •     3.96 lbs. of psilocybin mushrooms,1,300 THC vapes (2,510g), 1,459g THC wax/oil, 881 nicotine vapes: 27 cans of ZYN pouches, money counters, scales, packaging materials, and ammunition.

Savionugh Clinkscales (M/24) of Virginia Beach, was charged with Possession of a firearm while selling over one pound of marijuana, possession of a firearm while selling a schedule I/II narcotic, two counts of possession with the intent to sell a schedule I/II narcotics,  possession with the intent to sell over five pounds of marijuana, possession with the intent to sell marijuana one ounce to five pounds, transport schedule I/II into the Commonwealth of Virginia, transport over five pounds of marijuana into the Commonwealth of Virginia and misdemeanor eluding.
