Update: VBPD Investigating Homicide on Riverbend Road
Last month, we reported on a shooting incident that resulted in one death and the injury of two other individuals, one of whom remains in critical condition. Investigations show that a confrontation among partygoers escalated into violence, resulting in gunfire. (See previous News Release below.)
Marquise Bunn (M/37) of Portsmouth has been identified as a suspect. On January 8, 2024, Bunn was apprehended on an outstanding warrant for Felon in Possession of a Firearm related to the incident. Subsequently, Bunn faces additional charges of Second-Degree Murder and Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony.
The victim who was transported to the hospital remains in critical condition.
Note: The charges mentioned in this press release are accusations, and the arrested individual is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

On December 24th, at 12:12 A.M., Virginia Beach Emergency Communications and Citizens Services (ECCS) received alerts from ShotSpotter for shots fired in the 800 block of Riverbend Road. Subsequent calls from community members reported two gunshot victims.
Upon arrival, officers from the Virginia Beach Police Department (VBPD) discovered two adult males with gunshot wounds. One victim, Antonio Wolfe (M/43) of Portsmouth, Virginia, was pronounced dead at the scene. The other was transported to a local hospital where he remains in critical condition. A third adult male gunshot wound victim related to the incident later walked into a local hospital. He has since been released.
VBPD homicide Detectives are actively investigating what was a chaotic scene. There are currently no suspects in custody. Anyone with information relating to this case is asked to contact the Virginia Beach Police Detective Bureau at (757) 385-4101 or anonymously through Crime Solvers at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.
