Update: VBPD Arrests One in Fatal Shooting on Level Green Blvd.

On May 10, 2024, Virginia Beach Police Department (VBPD) officers arrested a 17-year-old male juvenile from Virginia Beach and charged him with Second Degree Murder and Use of a Firearm in Commission of a Felony.

(Note: The charges mentioned in this press release are accusations, and the arrested individual is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.)

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA, April 6, 2024 – Emergency Communications and Citizen Services (ECCS) received a report of shots fired in the 1200 block of Level Green Blvd. at 10:44 p.m. on April 5, 2024.

Virginia Beach Police Department (VBPD) officers responded and located one victim of a gunshot wound. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) pronounced the victim, Kalani Bailey-Cortez (M/21) of Norfolk, deceased at the scene.
