Two New Fire Tankers Placed Into Service in Virginia Beach

This provided enhanced fire protection in the southern areas of the city

 

The Virginia Beach Fire Department is proud to announce the addition of two new water tankers to our frontline fleet, enhancing our ability to deliver dependable fire protection across the southern areas of the city.

Entering service this month:

·         Tanker 5 – Station 5 (Courthouse) Replacing a 2004 American LaFrance 2000‑gallon tanker

·         Tanker 6 – Station 6 (Creeds) Replacing a 2008 Pierce 3000‑gallon tanker

These new units were built by Fouts Fire on a 2026 Kenworth T480 cab and chassis and bring significant improvements in water capacity, reliability, and operational safety.

Key Features Include:

• MHC Kenworth T‑480 cab & chassis

• Hale MBP 1000 GPM PTO pump

• UPF 3000‑gallon poly water tank

• Whelen LED warning and scene lighting package

• JA Lube automatic chassis lubrication system

• Newton stainless steel dump valve

• Husky Portable folding tank

• Federal Signal Q2B mechanical siren

These upgrades strengthen our ability to protect residents in areas where hydrant coverage is limited and ensure our firefighters have the modern, dependable equipment they need to serve the community.
