ShotSpotter Alert Leads to Arrest on Hampstead Court
On February 13, 2026, at approximately 1:12 a.m., Virginia Beach Police Department (VBPD) officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert in the 800 block of Hampstead Court. While on scene, officers heard additional shots. Officers responding to the second shots fired location identified a vehicle of interest and attempted a traffic stop. The vehicle fled from officers but was eventually located. The subsequent investigation led to the driver, Sirenity Suggs, (F/23) of Newport News, being charged with the following:
· Concealed weapon Reckless handling of a firearm
· Discharging a firearm within city limits
· Dui first offense
· Eluding police
· Driving while suspended.
“This arrest highlights the dedication of our officers and the critical technology that supports their work,” said Chief Paul W. Neudigate. “Because of the effectiveness of ShotSpotter and the relentless determination of Third Precinct officers, this individual was apprehended before further harm could be inflicted on our community. If you come to Virginia Beach and misuse a firearm, just know that there will be consequences”.
This incident remains under investigation by a Third Precinct Officer. Anyone with information is asked to contact VBPD at (757) 385-2703 or anonymously through Crime Solvers at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP or P3Tips.com.
