ShotSpotter Alert Leads to Arrest on Dahlia Drive
On July 5, 2026, at approximately 2:45 a.m., Virginia Beach Police Department (VBPD) officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert in the 1500 block of Dahlia Drive.
Upon arrival, VBPD officers immediately canvassed the area, located, and arrested Demario Burden (M/19) of Virginia Beach. A firearm was confiscated from the scene. Burden was charged with the following:
- Possession of a Firearm while in Possession of a Controlled Substance
- Possession with Intent to Sell, Give, or Distribute a Controlled Substance
- Willfully Discharging a Firearm within 1,000 feet of a school
- Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana
- Carrying a Loaded Firearm through a Public Space
- Carrying a Concealed Firearm without a Permit
- Reckless Handling of a Firearm
Burden was transported to Virginia Beach City Jail and is currently being held without bond.
