Overnight Curfew Arrests at Oceanfront

On Saturday, March 7, 2026, starting at 11:00 p.m. through the early morning hours of Saturday, March 8, 2026, the Virginia Beach Police Department (VBPD) conducted unplanned juvenile curfew enforcement of unaccompanied minors (under 18) in the Oceanfront Resort area of Virginia Beach.

VBPD officers took 37 juveniles into custody. Of those, 34 were released to their parents with warnings. The remaining three were arrested and held at the Virginia Beach Juvenile Detention Center on various charges, to include two minors that were found illegally carrying firearms.

Starting March 19, 2026, the City of Virginia Beach is moving its nightly curfew for unaccompanied minors (under 18) one hour earlier, from 11 p.m. to 10 p.m. The restriction lasts until 5 a.m. in public places, aimed at reducing late-night incidents and increasing safety during busy spring and summer months.
