NHSCA High School Nationals Return to VBSC

Countdown Begins for Largest Yet Recruitment Event and Showcase of Top High School Wrestling Talent

The Virginia Beach Sports Center (VBSC) will host the National High School Coaches Association (NHSCA) High School Wrestling National Championships, March 28-30. Entering its 36th year, the prestigious event continues to set the bar high, celebrating wrestling excellence by bringing together the best of high school talent from all 50 states, several countries and U.S. military bases.

“Our event has grown tremendously over the years, with this year promising to be our biggest yet,” said NHSCA CEO Bob Ferraro. “We’ve seen our ticket sales almost double from 1.2 to 2.4 tickets per athlete over the last five years. This year, we’ve increased our numbers by 350 kids due to the efficiency we achieved last year and are expecting close to 5,800 registrations, marking the largest turnout in our event’s history.”

This year’s tournament will include 600 female competitors, further cementing the sport’s growing popularity, and the event's reputation for inclusivity and excellence. The top eight place finishers in each weight class will receive prestigious awards and official recognition as All-Americans, showcasing the high quality of competition and opportunity for recruitment.

The 2025 championships will not only see a record-breaking number of participants but will also feature an expanded format with two separate waves, now spaced an hour more apart for optimal scheduling, parking availability and participant experience.

In tandem with these enhancements, each individual match will be streamed live, ensuring wrestling coaches and fans everywhere can follow the action remotely. With over 200 coaches attending and countless watching online, the event continues to be a prime recruiting opportunity firmly rooted in the wrestling calendar.

International wrestling stars have been known to make appearances in past years, and 2025 is no different. Well-known and accomplished VIPs will be on-site to sign autographs and inspire the next generations of champions.

This event is open to the public. Tickets are $47.40 for Friday and Saturday, and tickets for Sunday are $20 and go on sale at noon on Saturday, March 29. Tickets can be purchased online at the Virginia Beach Sports Center website or at the box office at 1045 19th Street, Virginia Beach, VA 23451.
