Members of Virginia Task Force 2 (VA-TF2) Activated to Support PTC #9 Response in Florida

Eight members of Virginia Task Force 2 (VA-TF2) were activated at 0800 hours on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, in response to Potential Tropical Cyclone #9. The team will depart at 10:30 hours today, from the FEMA Warehouse located at 513 Viking Drive, Suite 9, after preparing the Incident Support Team (IST) cache for deployment. The team is expected to arrive in Orlando, Florida, around midnight this evening. They will rendezvous with FEMA IST in Orlando and assist local agencies with requests for assistance as needed.

VA-TF2 USAR is one of 28 FEMA Urban Search and Rescue Teams positioned across the country. The Virginia Beach Fire Department is the sponsoring agency for VATF-2. VATF-2 has conducted search and rescue operations in the aftermath of numerous disasters
